Cayman’s Isy B selected as finalist at Phoenix Fashion Week
With over 300 applicants seeking the prestigious title, designer Isy Obi is one of just 15 chosen to compete in Phoenix Fashion Week’s ‘Designer Bootcamp’ which tests creative talent and business acumen through a series of high-pressure tests. Every year, the Phoenix Fashion Week team tours 10 major US cities looking for talented young designers to participate in a competition that can launch a career.
Phoenix Fashion Week’s Executive Director Brian Hill said he was “impressed with Isy’s attention to detail, high quality design and strong work ethic ensuring success for this brand.”
“I’m excited to share Isy B.’s modern island-inspired style through Phoenix Fashion Week.” said Isy. “This is the opportunity every designer dreams of for mentorship, and fast-track brand growth. However, this is no walk in the park. It’s proving to be one of the biggest challenges I have ever taken on as a designer; like Shark Tank and Project Runway rolled into one!”
The competition was launched last month with a catwalk challenge, where former Miss Arizona, Maureen Montagne, took to the floor in an Isy B. gown. It culminates in October with a final runway presentation at Talking Stick Resort in Arizona. Contestants are tasked with unveiling a final collection in front of an audience of over 6,000, when one designer will become Emerging Designer of 2016 and walk away with a game-changing $10,000 prize package.
Isy B, Cayman is cheering for you!
